About Us
The Texas Association of Mapúa Alumni (TAMA) is a non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas founded in 1980
by a group of graduates from Mapua Institute of Technology who conceived the idea of forming an organization that
would reflect their ideals and aspirations in promoting the image of the alumni and the Alma Mater and that would also
provide a forum for sharing and enriching their social and professional lives. The first elected president was the late Billy Vergara, CE'64
who steered the organization from its humble beginnings.
Nearly 3 decades and 14 administrations later, TAMA evolved into a very strong and outstanding organization
that fostered camaraderie and cemented solidarity among the members and their families while actively involved in local community services and scholarship programs for the needy students of the Alma Mater.
